Editor of Masonic Sourcebook

The beginning of Masonic Sourcebook came in 2008 when I was talking with Masons in the United Kingdom about the history, traditions and symbols of Freemasonry. Those visits to lodges and Grand Lodges in England, Scotland and Ireland were part of my Masonic research, and it soon became clear that brothers in those countries were going about their own studies that sometimes overlapped what I was doing. The idea of sharing information on a website was appealing to all. And so it began.

A major focus has been on the books and authors that are the source of a foundation for any additional work being done today. Beyond that, contributions of articles come primarily from people in the USA, England and Scotland, though fellow travelers from all countries are welcome to share their work. Comments from Masons and others around the world continue to arrive with thoughts on the writings and readings that have made the greatest difference to them. Those inputs have helped to shape the collection of books presented here as recommended works.

The background of your humble editor is that of being a Master Mason, 32nd degree, and Knight Templar. I am the Senior Warden of Southern California Research Lodge (SCRL), and am developing the Lodge's speaking program covering Southern California. SCRL is one of the largest lodges in the world, with over 3,000 members. 

My book on the Phoenicians explored their role in the building of Solomon's Temple. This was considerable, since the Phoenician city of Tyre contributed King Hiram and Hiram Abiff to the effort, along with other craftsmen, much gold and cedar wood. My next book picks up that trail and follows it forward to the time of the Knights Templar and early Freemasons, both of whom placed great importance on Solomon's Temple in ways that affected their rituals, beliefs, symbolic usages and practices.
